William Welstead & Jake Chapman “Explaining Christians to Dinosaurs” has arrived with a special installation at Dover Street Market. Featuring 18kt gold and platinum dinosaur pendants, created by artist Jake Chapman and jeweller William Welstead. Chapman explained that dinosaurs serve as a powerful reminder of humanity's fragility, once dominating the earth before being wiped out by a catastrophic asteroid. “The same fuels that drive our civilization could ultimately lead to our end”. Welstead agreed “Humans have such a sense of self-importance, and yet the length of time we’ve been around is so short, relative to life on earth, and dinosaurs are a great reminder of that fact.”

The dinosaur pendants, measuring an inch tall are handcrafted in Welstead’s Cornwall workshop. Each design is limited to 60 pieces, and they come with matching chains. Prices range from £2,450 to £2,950. The full collection of jewellery and apparel is available on the DSML E-SHOP. 

To celebrate Frieze Week, the collection is showcased alongside a special installation featuring three tall dinosaur sculptures created by Chapman.
