Ursula magazine presents Sonia Boyce in collaboration with Hauser & Wirth, two special installations arrive Thursday 16th October at Dover Street Market as part of the Frieze 2025 celebrations.
Over four decades, Sonia Boyce has forged a visionary practice that transcends boundaries; working across film, photography, sound, print and installation. Boyce creates immersive environments that invite audiences to participate in moments of play, improvisation and revelation. Her work explores the politics of authorship and collaboration, the intersection of personal and collective experience.
A pioneer of the British Black Arts Movement of the 1980s, Boyce continues to question who makes art, how it is received and what it means to belong. Her practice is rooted in listening, exchange and freedom. Art becomes an act of shared authorship.
Boyce’s work is held in the collections of Tate and the V&A, amongst others, and in 2024 she was awarded a DBE for her services to art. The special displays will be free to view at Dover Street Market from Thursday 16th October on the Ground Floor and Third Floor respectively.
