Six by Comme des Garçons

Six.
1988 – 1991
“Six” magazine publication
The five senses “to see, to hear, to taste, to smell and to touch are realistic senses.
The sixth sense is one that cannot be realistically expressed.”
Six means the sixth sense.
2026 – 2027
New again.

Six was originally launched in 1988, with eight issues produced through 1991. Named in reference to the “sixth sense”, Six was conceived as an expression of the spirit of COMME des GARÇONS beyond clothing. Predominantly image-led and produced in an oversized format, the publication brought together photography, art, architecture, design and film, with very few of its pages featuring COMME des GARÇONS clothing.

Across its eight issues, Six included work by artists, photographers and cultural figures including Robert Frank, André Kertész, Peter Lindbergh, Gilbert & George, Eileen Gray and Jean Cocteau.

To celebrate Frieze, a special installation by Rei Kawakubo will take over the windows of Dover Street Market. Limited edition T-shirts featuring select artworks from the magazine will launch in-store and online on Thursday 15th October.

We look forward to seeing you!
