“Julie Bullard” by Nadia Lee Cohen and Martin Parr

As a part of Photo London 2025 at DSM, IDEA presents “Julie Bullard” a new photobook collaboration between Nadia Lee Cohen and Martin Parr. Blending surreal fiction and documentary realism, “Julie Bullard” is a meticulously crafted photo album chronicling the invented life of a very believable character: Julie Bullard.

Nadia Lee Cohen, known for her rich character work and cinematic vision, teams up with Martin Parr, the master of British photographic satire. Together, they reimagine Cohen as Julie, a glamour-tinged memory of a 1990s British childhood babysitter, brought to life through Parr’s unmistakable lens.

The result is 101 images that feel lifted from a stranger’s family photo archive, only better. Costumed, cast, prosthetic-nosed, and perfectly lit, the characters of Julie, her sister Jane (Scarlett Carlos Clarke), and mother Sharon (Frankie Park) inhabit a detailed, surreal world where fiction feels unnervingly real.

To launch the book, Dover Street Market will host a special installation.
