John Skelton
John Alexander Skelton's collection XIX arrives on Thursday, 18th September, with a special installation at Dover Street Market.
As an Irish tribute to cloth and character, collection XIX highlights fabric as the guiding element. Modelled by locals along Ireland's west coast, personal memories are honoured whilst tailoring and silhouettes take centre stage in the collection.
Rigid narratives give way to instinct, as Skelton explored County Mayo in Connacht, the county where his Irish family originates. The XIX collection is a tribute to his trip, inspired by the energy of the people he met, whom he described as having “an open and generally joyous approach to life”. This resulted in a collection featuring tailoring that is neither stiff nor rule-bound, blending a more formal style with comfort, reflecting a relaxed yet refined aesthetic.
