Arc’teryx Walk Gently
Arc’teryx Walk Gently arrives Thursday 18th September at Dover Street Market.
Walk Gently centres Indigenous creators, sharing their work and stories through their own voices and perspectives. The platform is the vision of artist and designer Cole Sparrow-Crawford, from Musqueam in the Coast Salish region in southwestern British Columbia, Canada.
“From the start, it’s really been about community and communication. I’ve been able to connect with leadership, they’ve offered me the foundation and resources to bring Indigenous storytelling and design to the world.” says Sparrow-Crawford. “The old-school branding of conquering nature doesn’t align with us, that’s something I’m asking about.”
Moving beyond product alone, Walk Gently looks at internal representation, with a focus on how other Indigenous creatives and entrepreneurs can work with the brand, showcasing those who have always been on the land, creating technical designs and always walking gently. As a brand founded on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh people, Arc’teryx celebrates and invests back into these communities with this project.
Now launching at Dover Street Market, Arc’teryx invites their global customers to move towards a more ethical and inclusive relationship with nature, uplifting and empowering the voices and traditions of those who have long protected the lands their community explore.
