“Juergen Teller: Donkey Man and Other Stories, Editorial Works Volume 1” presents over three decades of work that showcases the vast scope of his epic photographic practice published in magazines, that combines fashion stories, portraiture, naked pictures, animal pictures, landscapes and still life.
Iconic works from the past, such as his portraits of Kurt Cobain and Björk, or his Romania story originally shot for i-D in 1990, are juxtaposed with editorials from the last ten years for titles such as Arena Homme Plus, British Vogue, POP, Purple, Self-Service and System. This recontextualisation of Teller’s work reveals his legacy of redefining what constitutes a fashion story and inspiring the next generation of photographers.
Commissioned texts by art critic and academic, Donatien Grau, Editor-in-chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful and model, Kristen McMenamy also offer perceptive cultural and personal insights into Teller’s prolific career and output.
“Juergen Teller: Donkey Man and Other Stories, Editorial Works Volume 1” published by Rizzoli now available at Dover Street Market and on the DSML E-SHOP.
